May 2011 Newsletter John ‘Cue Ball’ Smith took the honours at Warley Park with the lowest ever society winning score of 31 points.  Although the score was low, the golf that John produced was of the highest standard.  John has been knocking on the door for some time and has now deservedly cemented his place in the Roll of Honour.  Runner up was Andy Brand with 30 points, a very close second.  I’m sure Andy will be looking to improve on that position and claim first prize in the next event. The greens at Warley proved to be extremely difficult for everyone and this was reflected in the low scores.  Dean Tattam won the Nearest the Pin competition along with Errol Buckeridge and Paul McMahon.  All 3 received a cash prize with Dean taking the 2 hole roll over money. The Match Play got off to a flying start with 26 people entering.  Some big names fell at the first hurdle and the next round draw threw up some mouth watering pairings.  Click here to go the the Match Play results page.  Good luck to everyone in the next round. The Hertfordshire Golf Club  -  will be our next venue and will provide an equally good test for all abilities.  Richie has managed to get a great deal at such a prestigious golf club - only £55 for the day.  Click here for details about the venue on Monday 23rd May 2011.  Club attire is Smart Casual (no jeans).  Club shirts must be worn on the day. Weekend Tour  -  We need to pay the deposit for the weekend tour, so to book your place please call Steve, Paul or Richie.  If you have not yet done so you will need to pay £20 deposit at The Hertfordshire.  The full price is £120 which includes bed, breakfast and evening meal with 2 rounds of golf for Sun 11 and Mon 12 Sept 2011.  Click here to go further details on the Venues page.  This has not been booked yet as we need more numbers to get the discount.  If we do not get at least 4 more people then it will not be booked! Other Business  -  New hats are still available, £10 for a new hat.  Tank tops are also available for the price of £25.  Please see Paul McMahon to order yours.  Thank you to Graham Bettis for organising a great night out at the Dogs.  Fourteen people came and it was good to see some old faces, noteably Trevor Archer.  Graham will send an e-mail out about the next event in due course. We have £28 in the Hole in One club and require everyone to give £1 at each event from now on.
